Abstract:

Sudha Murty, a prolific Indian author, philanthropist, and educator, has earned a distinguished place in contemporary Indian literature. Best known for her simple yet profound narratives, Murty's short stories reflect deep-rooted Indian values, socio-cultural challenges, and universal human emotions. Writing in both English and Kannada, she reaches readers across generations and languages. Her stories, often grounded in real-life experiences, portray a moral universe where honesty, kindness, and resilience emerge as central themes. This paper explores the literary and social dimensions of Murty’s short stories, analyzing her narrative techniques, thematic concerns, and her role in making literature both accessible and relevant to modern Indian readers.
