Disability Studies is a genre of literature that talks about the real life experiences of disabled people as well as their closed ones. A systematic analysis through this genre of literature helps the normally abled people to comprehend the realities of disabled. The main aim of this research paper is to find out the closeness between literature and reality in terms of disability and to bring out the quintessence concerning the medical model of disability through the works of American authors Marti Leimbach and Eli Gotlieb. To analyse in this aspect, two novels are selected from literature and are compared with the present day research particularly in this arena. Moreover, this study throws light on the importance of literature in daily life along with bringing out the conditions that reinforce the medical model of disability. Medical Humanities is an interdisciplinary course that provides space for healthcare providers to shift their focus from medications to subjective approaches. This research paper also highlights the need for the change in attitude of the healthcare practitioners.
