In the realm of language education, English Language Learning has transcended its traditional focus on grammar and vocabulary, becoming a platform for engaging students with cultural and social narratives. This paper investigates the integration of selected ecological folktales from the English translation of Lakshminath Bezbaroa’s Burhi Aair Sadhu (1911), ‘Old Mother’s Wise Tales’, translated by Nripen Dutta Baruah, into the EL teaching for students of classes V to VII. The primary objective of this paper is to enhance language proficiency and to foster ecological literacy within the theoretical framework of Ecopedagogy. By blending language learning with ecological themes, the study seeks to create a transformative classroom experience that promotes environmental awareness and intercultural literacy, offering students a deeper connection to both the language and the world around them.
