Author(s):

Jyoti Dutt

Abstract:

The diasporic literature basically emphasizes on the homeland’s language, religious values and cultural norms of diasporic people. It claims the critical attention, theoretical formations and relationships to culture of origin. Diasporic Indian literature explores key themes of alienation, displacement, and the quest for identity, reflecting the experiences of Indian communities living abroad. Diasporic writings hold significant literary value, exploring the complexities of displacement, identity, and cultural hybridity. They offer a unique perspective on the experiences of individuals and communities who have migrated across borders, often navigating new cultural environments while maintaining connections to their heritage. Diasporic writings have also faced criticism and controversies. Works of diasporic writers have enriched the literary landscape by introducing new perspectives, themes, and styles. Their works have helped to challenge stereotypes and promote a better understanding of diverse cultures and societies. They have contributed to the evolution of English literature by exploring new ways of representing hybrid identities and the complexities of the diaspora.
