The role of literature in promoting social justice

Abstract:

Literature has long been a powerful tool for exploring complex social and political issues, including justice. Through storytelling, literature provides a unique lens through which to examine the human experience and the complexities of justice. Literature in India plays a crucial role in promoting social justice by reflecting social realities, challenging injustice, and fostering empathy and social awareness. Through various genres and narratives, it amplifies the voices of marginalized communities, critiques oppressive systems, and inspires social change. In traditional Indian society the basis of hierarchy and existence of social injustice was the idea of purity and pollution which turned to achievement resulting into open and fair competition. This research paper focused on Social and cultural norms have changed a great deal in the course of development.

Objectives

  • To study literature in shaping our understanding of Justice
  • To portray the lived experiences of people from different social strata
  • To study exposing the root causes of social injustice

Methodology: This study employs a textual analysis approach to examine role of literature in promoting social justice through texts and relevant research papers. The analysis will focus on identifying and analyzing key themes, characters, and narrative structures. Additionally, the study will draw on existing research to provide context and support for the findings.
