Ecofeminism holds that the oppression of women and exploitation of Nature are interlinked from the perspective that both are the victims of dominant patriarchal ideology that sanctions their marginalisation. A sustainable future requires addressing gender inequalities alongside environmental conservation. Ecofeminism in Indian English literature explores the intricate connection between women and nature, highlighting how both have been subjected to exploitation under patriarchal and capitalist systems. This scholarly article aims to address the research objectives, viz., (1) To study the women in India before the concept of Ecofeminism was coined in different literature perspectives, and (2) To explore the paradigm shift of women in India during the conceptualisation of Ecofeminism. The author used a thematic and narrative approach to address the objectives. The article concluded with the various literature perspectives from different social and economic paradigm shifts. It also discussed the various levels and status of women throughout the centuries. This paper explores the relationship between ecofeminism and the representation of women in Indian English literature, examining various reflections and perspectives on the topic.
