The study computes and analyses the linguistic diversity of the area surrounding Kashi Vishwanath Temple with the help of primary data collected by a survey questionnaire. The paper takes on quantitative approaches to analyse the linguistic diversity prevalent in the cultural centre of Varanasi. The study utilises the Monolingual Nonweighted method to measure linguistic diversity (Greenberg 109). The paper also encompasses and broadens its understanding of the space based on the linguistic diversity in the area. The area majorly includes the adjoining ghats of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (KVC) such as Lalita Ghat where the Gate no. 3 of the KVC lies, on to the left is Tripur Bhairav Ghat, Maan Mandir Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat and Assi from where data is collected. Gate no. 4 of the corridor is also covered and samples were collected from there as well. The sampling is purposive as these areas serve as the hotspots for tourists and pilgrims from around the country and the world.
