Ages pass and still one reads Hamlet with the same curiosity and so many questions arise in the mind of all the readers regarding the mental state and the thinking process of a heartbroken son and the prince of Denmark. Soliloquies mirrors the inner layers of one’s mind and heart and with this technique Shakespeare has given an opportunity to his readers to go deep down in the inner psyche of his characters. Hamlet’s overthinking, rational attitude, and his love for his father as well as for his beloved, his taking part in play within the play with all the players just after the death or murder of his father as reported to him by the ghost of his father-all the incidents and events affect his behaviour and thinking. Moreover, he has lost his right on the throne and there is no enemy except his own mother and uncle. Hamlet is burdened with the responsibility to take revenge for his father’s murder but there is a procrastination. He becomes melancholic and questions life and death. This work mainly focuses upon the critical analysis of the actions and inactions of its central character Hamlet. The protagonist takes revenge, but at what cost? Well planned things and lots of consideration are hallmarks of good actions but sometimes it is too late in taking any action that well planned action is of no value at all.
