Cultural assimilation and shadowiness in the shadow lines

Author(s):

Archana A

Abstract:

Amitav Ghosh deals with innovative themes in his novels. He specially depicts the scenario of post-colonialism. Many geographical demarcations were carried out after the British Regime. Being a Post-Modernist he is well aware of the hollowness of the geographical boundaries where cultural assimilation cannot be segregated. The Shadow Lines deaks with the hollowness of the political boundary between India (West Bengal and Bangladesh (East Bengal). Therefore, the study of my project work is on “The Shadowiness in the Novel of Amitav Ghosh.” The study is confined to the novel The Shadow Lines.
