This study delves into the complex array of obstacles encountered by female authors in Maharashtra, stemming from deeply entrenched patriarchal norms and rigid gender expectations. This paper systematically uncovers the barriers that permeate the literary world by employing a comprehensive qualitative methodology that analyses personal narratives, extensive literature reviews, and in-depth case studies. It scrutinises the societal expectations imposed on women, explores the systemic hindrances within the publishing and literary recognition frameworks, and addresses the personal dilemmas and self-censorship issues that female writers confront. The research aims to illuminate these authors' resilience and adaptive strategies to navigate and overcome these challenges, securing their rightful place within the literary domain. Through this investigation, the paper seeks not only to contribute to the discourse on gender equality in literature but also to propose pathways toward a more inclusive and equitable literary landscape in Maharashtra.
