A Room of One's Own, penned by Virginia Woolf and published in 1929, written in a literary landscape of gender inequality, still dominates literature especially the feminist discourse even in 21st century. Its relevance and impact is beyond assessment. Virginia Woolf, in A Room of One’s Own, surveys the literature, though in pieces, regarding the contribution of women writers as a whole. However, stunned by the dominance of patriarchal powers, she, being adamant to delve deep, has unearthed a link between the power and history. She devours the things to its deepest level; to the naked truth. Woolf, very vehemently, espouses for the rights of women, highlighting the dichotomy of existence, arbitrariness of the lords in domesticating them, their portrayal, in literature, newspapers and magazines especially by the males, and their relegation, almost to a non-entity, in history. She advocates for the removal of barriers, and providing opportunity to the ‘other half’ to thrive for which she has the potential. Virginia argues passionately advocates for autonomy and economic freedom along with space; a room of their own, for their creative expression. This paper intents to analyze Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One's Own from the perspective that engendered the revised pattern of thought while assessing or reassessing a project, an art of creation or a piece of history.
