Hindu tradition in the folklore, and Art form of the Bhil Tribal Community residing in the Udaipur region of Rajasthan

Author(s):

Dr. Anju Gurawa

Abstract:

The proposed Bhil Community exploration delves into the rich cultural tapestry of Rajasthan, focusing on the Bhil tribe's art and folklore tradition in Udaipur. Despite the state's illustrious history dominated by the Rajput dynasties and ancient civilizations, the contribution of indigenous tribal communities, particularly the Bhils, remains overlooked. This exploration aims to bridge this gap by tracing the continuity of Bhil traditions with the larger Hindu tradition. Through ethnographic fieldwork, oral history interviews, archival exploration, and comparative analysis, the Bhil Community exploration explores the incorporation of Hindu elements into Bhil folklore and artistic expressions. By shedding light on Bhil history, cultural memory, and their relationship with mainstream Hindu society, the exploration aims to provide insights into identity formation, cultural exchange, and resilience within Rajasthan's diverse tribal communities. The meticulous selection of resources ensures a comprehensive exploration of Bhil folklore, culture, and socio-political dynamics, facilitating a nuanced understanding of their heritage. Through interdisciplinary exploration methodologies, this Bhil Community exploration offers valuable contributions to the discourse on cultural diversity and heritage preservation in Rajasthan.
